Bringing Hakomi’s Wisdom into the Heart of Your Relationships

As someone with a Hakomi background, you’ve already honed your skills in establishing attuned and compassionate therapeutic relationships with your clients. But how can we  bring these invaluable skills into their everyday relationships where our needs matter just as much as the needs of the other person?  And how can we help our clients do the same?

Enter the realm of real-life connections – with partners, family members, friends, and co-workers – where the delicate balance of understanding others and expressing our own needs becomes an art.

While research underscores the profound impact of robust relationships on our health, happiness, and professional success, we often find ourselves entangled in less-than-satisfying interactions despite our yearning for meaningful connections.

The H.E.A.R.T® approach (Hakomi Embodied and Aware Relationship Training) developed by Halko Weiss bridges this gap. It offers a mindful guide for fostering intimate, rewarding, and engaged personal and professional relationships and aligns seamlessly with Hakomi’s principles, emphasizing consciousness over self-improvement.

This immersive workshop, taught by Halko and Maci Daye, internationally acclaimed Hakomi Trainers, will help you cultivate deeper connections for yourself and your clients through enhanced communication, mutual understanding, and the transformative power of mindfulness.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and articulate the distinctive features of a mindful therapeutic relationship versus a mindful real-life relationship in a counseling or therapy setting.
  • Explain the significance of focusing on “states” rather than problems in relationship work for your clients.
  • Break down the components of the Reciprocal Interaction Loop (RIL) and explain its theoretical framework, and practice its application with clients.
  • Differentiate between the Reciprocal Interaction Loop (RIL) applications for individual clients and couples in a therapy setting.
  • Explore “states” and “parts” models in the context of therapeutic relationship work.
  • Apply these models to help your clients analyze and understand complex relationship dynamics.
  • Demonstrate deep listening skills and techniques associated with mindfulness.
    • Introduce mindfulness techniques for self-regulation in challenging relationship moments (“Mindful Self-Regulation).
    • Develop the ability to report personal introspective observations in a mindful manner effectively (“Mindful Self-Report).
    • Articulate the concept of “Mindful Self-Leadership“ in the context of relationships.
  • Evaluate research on the role of compassion and self-compassion in relationships and  the  importance for therapists to understand its relevance and impact.
  • Identify specific mindfulness steps that build capacity for deeper love in relationships. The capacity to deepen love in relationships as a focus of therapy is a shift away from problem solving and toward empowerment in relationships that fosters greater emotional and mental health throughout life.

Join us on this transformative journey as you bring the wisdom of Hakomi into the heart of your everyday relationships. Embrace the opportunity to evolve and love more skillfully, enriching the tapestry of connections that shape your life.

Audience: This workshop is designed for: Hakomi Students, Graduates, CHT/P’s, and Faculty.
