Julie Murphy

Julie Murphy has over thirty years of experience consulting, teaching and working in the Healing Arts. Julie is a Co-Director of the Hakomi Institute of California and trains mental health professionals in California, Canada, Israel, Australia and New Zealand. With a strong background in the fields of anthropology, contemplative psychology, addictions, attachment theory, massage therapy, Buddhism, and poetry, Julie has developed numerous programs that integrate cutting-edge research with humanistic and contemplative approaches. She is adjunct faculty at John F. Kennedy University in Holistic Counseling Psychology, was an instructor in the California Institute of Integral Studies Certificate Program in Mindfulness and Compassion in Psychotherapy, and has presented at numerous professional conferences including the Non-Dual Wisdom Conference, the Hakomi Institute International, AMTA, and USABP Annual Conferences. She specializes in developing mindfulness and compassion in relationships, attachment theory, addictions counseling and creative writing. Julie developed Embodied Writing™, a contemplative and somatic approach to creative writing and self-expression. She also developed “Attending to Attachment: A Mindfulness Based Approach to Working with Attachment Issues and Relationship Repair”.
