Julia Corley

Julia is a Certified Hakomi Trainer, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, and Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist. She has a B.A. in Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and both a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy from Appalachian State University. She has been involved with Passion & Presence® couples’ retreats on mindful sexuality created by Hakomi Trainer Maci Daye since 2011 and she has facilitated multiple workshops on Hakomi trainer Cedar Barstow’s Right Use of Power since completing the facilitator training in 2013.

Julia has worked in the healing arts since 1998, first as a massage and bodywork therapist with a passion for the mind/body connection and now as a somatic psychotherapist and educator. She sees clients and committed couples/partners in her private practice in Hillsborough, NC, US, and online.

Her love affair with Hakomi began in 2003 when she was a massage therapist at one of North Carolina’s first integrative medical clinics and one of her colleagues told her about Hakomi. She attended her first introduction to Hakomi workshop with Ron Kurtz soon after this and has been studying it ever since. She immediately fell in love with its loving presence, depth, potency, and how each session feels like a bit of an adventure. Julia joined the Hakomi Institute faculty in 2015. She currently teaches Hakomi in the U.S.A., Europe, and to students worldwide via Zoom as part of the Hakomi Central and Hakomi Institute of Mallorca training teams. Her clinical interests are compassion, sexuality, the ethical use of touch as a healing intervention, and the use of ritual in therapy.
