Joseph J. Soma

Joe has a degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University, an MS in Biochemistry from the University of Scranton, is a certified Hakomi therapist since 2001, and is certified in EMDR. He is in private psychotherapy practice with offices in Boulder, CO where he works with individuals, couples, and families.
He has been Clinical Director at a residential adolescent treatment facility, Senior Therapist at an addiction treatment agency, worked in community counseling, wilderness-based counseling, and at an alternative High School program. Joe has been an instructor at Naropa since 2005 where he has taught a variety of classes in the MTC, Somatic, and Environmental Leadership programs. Joe has been teaching in the post-secondary environment since 1982. Has taught the MatrixWorks method of working with groups as living systems and has been facilitating groups for the last 20+ years. He has group experience in the areas of Domestic Violence, Parenting, Anxiety, and Drug and Alcohol groups with adults and adolescents.
Joe has been a Hakomi assistant for three full trainings, assisted in numerous introduction weekends, and is currently deepening into a teaching role as part of the team in the Boulder area.
