ABOUT

Halko Weiss

Halko Weiss is a Clinical Psychologist, supervisor, and lecturer with a Ph.D. and DBH, specializing in mindfulness, couples therapy, and body-centered psychotherapy. He authored 30 publications, including ten books, and earned the Alice K. Ladas Research Award from the USABP in 2005.

As a co-founder of the Hakomi Institute in Boulder, Colorado, and the Hakomi Institutes of Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, Halko played a key role in developing the Hakomi Method and its global curricula. He is a member of the EABP, DGK, and “Psychotherapeutenkammer” in Germany and serves on editorial boards of three professional magazines.

Halko also taught at the University of Hamburg, the University of Tübingen, and the University of Marburg in Germany, as well as at the Eastern Institute of Technology in Napier, New Zealand, and the ZHAW (Zurich University for Applied Sciences). He is actively involved in ZIST Academy, a licensing school for psychotherapists in Germany, and has given more than 50 conference presentations.

Halko has been on the Board of Directors of the Hakomi Institute, Inc. since its inception. In the mid-90s, he contributed to establishing a training program on Emotional Intelligence for executives, a market leader in Germany. He also co-developed a coaching training and a couples therapy program for licensed psychotherapists and created a Hakomi-Informed Specialty Program called H.E.A.R.T.® (Hakomi Embodied and Aware Relationships Training), which he teaches internationally. These trainings have run successfully for decades.

In 2010, he co-founded the Hakomi Institute of Mallorca with Maci Daye, offering English-speaking trainings for therapists worldwide. As the sole remaining active co-founder of the Hakomi Institute, Halko continues to play a significant role in advancing body-psychotherapy and mindfulness globally.
