Webinar: Embodied Psychedelic Therapy – A Somatic Guide

February 12, 2026
Greg johnson

Psychedelic-assisted therapy is opening new doors for healing — but how do we hold that space with depth, safety, and embodiment?

Join authors Manuela Mischke-Reeds, MA, LMFT and Joshua Sylvae, PhD for a webinar exploring their groundbreaking new book, Embodied Psychedelic Therapy: A Somatic Guide (Norton Professional Books).

This webinar will include:

  • Why embodiment is important
  • How Hakomi and Somatic Experiencing can help with the psychedelic process
  • Ethical and trauma-informed considerations for working with psychedelics
  • A reading from the “Embodied Journeys” chapter
  • Q&A with the authors

Audience:

Practitioners working with clients/patients within the context of legal psychedelic therapy or research, and trained and certified by credentialed psychedelic therapy training programs (that train in the specific psychedelic with which they will be working), and Indigenous healers.

*As a pioneer in the field of depth psychotherapy, Hakomi has long been committed to approaches that support deep change, are grounded in science, and validated through trauma-informed and experiential work. As psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy emerges as a psychotherapeutic pathway for profound healing, we are optimistic about the potential of these medicines in conjunction with the Hakomi Method when held within safe, ethical, legal, and well-boundaried containers.

At the same time, we are acutely aware of the inherent risks in working with altered states of consciousness. When boundaries are softened, clients are especially vulnerable. As psychotherapists, we are called to stand firmly in support of ethics, integrity, and professional responsibility. Protecting the public remains our highest priority.

Embodied Psychedelic Therapy: A Somatic Guide

Body-centered practices for every stage of psychedelic-assisted therapy. Embodied Psychedelic Therapy is a guide to holding space for clients taking psychedelics for personal exploration, spiritual expansion, and healing. This book emerges from the intersection of psychedelics and somatics, weaving body-centered practices into the various phases of psychedelic work. Covering preparation, the psychedelic journey itself, and integration afterward, it details how a focus on embodiment greatly benefits work with expanded states of consciousness.

Delving into ethics, adverse events, trauma, the use of touch, and other themes relevant to psychedelic-assisted therapy, the authors draw on practices both ancient and modern to support healing and transformation. Here you will learn how to utilize the inherent wisdom of the body to maximize the potential of psychedelic-assisted therapy, allowing you to foster safer, more therapeutic experiences for those pursuing well-being and expansion.

Manuela has 25+ years of clinical experience in the field of trauma working somatically and psychedelic assisted psychotherapy with first responders. She lectures and trains professionals on the topics of mindfulness-somatic psychology, trauma therapy and compassionate relational approaches to healing.
