Hakomi’s somatic approach grounds the practitioner in the exploration of embodied experience as a direct pathway to the psyche. Research and experience show us that mindful, somatic processing and experiential learning are keys to deep and lasting transformation.
By mindfully shifting the therapeutic process from narrative to the full range of embodied experience, we gain direct access to the unconscious. This allows for a deeper, felt sense understanding of what blocks organicity—known in Hakomi as the nourishment barrier.
The profound transformative power of the Hakomi Method unfolds as we recognize, move toward, and explore the nourishment barrier with curiosity, collaboration and compassion. Through this process, we uncover how past wounding is held in the body, and how when nourishment has been organized out, it limits our capacity for embodiment and somatic connection to our organic needs and innate wisdom.
At this stage of the method, the work evolves from simply following the client to embodying therapeutic leadership—engaging with the body to guide the client into direct, experiential contact with deeply held core patterns and the missing experiences ready to unfold.
This workshop offers a rich opportunity to deepen your understanding and integration of Hakomi’s somatic techniques, including the mindful and ethical use of touch. Through demos, experiential practice, and supportive supervision, you will experience the profound impact of this work at the nourishment barrier.
By the end of this immersive workshop, you’ll expand your capacity to attune and explore somatically and to guide clients into deeper levels of embodied awareness at their barriers—enhancing the depth and effectiveness of your therapeutic work.
